Power of Association
Power of Association is not a superpower, or villain-power
in my case [Note Rani]
Rather it’s how we associate things and feelings.
Like for example, Chimpanzees have the power of association- so when a hurt chimpanzees goes through his treatments [in a hospital, this is from an article I read in the paper] which obviously are painful, he starts associating the vet with the feeling of pain. Thus, whenever the vet next comes to visit the chimpanzee in his enclosure he’s met by a shower of stones as he is known to the chimpanzees as a bearer of pain, unpleasant feelings.

And that’s what we do.
Like when a father walks out, the grieving children grow up to have “daddy issues”. So it’s like a daughter may associate the unfaithfulness and hurt of her father leaving with the entire gender and thus avoid any sorts of relationships with them, cause for her any man is a bad news, just like Paramore’s “The only exception”. Or on a much basic note after being burnt by touching a very hot vessel, we associate the hurt, the burnt sensation with the heat and avoid it in future.
Obviously now, these associations seem to act as a safeguard as they help us to steer clear from the feelings of hurt like the hot vessel example. But at the same time they limit us. Obviously I do not mean or am asking anybody to be daredevil and stand on fire or hold a hot vessel, I mean if you can do that that’s kind of really freaky cool. Or wait hot. Uh, coming back- I mean this in regard to the association of pain with human feelings. Like when we limit ourselves from falling in love, trusting people, failures, and rejections etc. - These associations thus can limit us and disable us from growing, or being happy.
Now, I’m not saying that associations are good or bad, I’m just expressing a thought. As important as it is to be safe, it is equally important to not be limited. We must be able to chart into the unknown or the known and let ourselves GROW. If it helps you to grow, then associate the feeling with growth.
Don’t fear.
Don’t stop.
There’s a lot more to you than you think.
P.S.Harsh you helped here in the most unaware way ! [Hint: abandoning
father haha]
